An international conference was held from October 18 to 20, 2018 at the headquarters of the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace (FHB Foundation) in Yamoussoukro. Organized on the occasion of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Year marking the 25th anniversary of the disappearance of the “Apostle of Peace”, this symposium was devoted to the theme: “The Peace Work of Félix Houphouët-Boigny”. registered 115 participants including 23 from Benin, Burkina-Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo and France. This scientific meeting also mobilized national public university institutions and various international organizations such as: Joseph Ki Zerbo Foundation, UNESCO, Academy of Arts Sciences, African Cultures and African Diasporas (ASCAD), National Archives of France and the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies (CEDS) of Paris.
The first edition of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Festival for the Promotion of Ivorian Values was held on September 7 and 8, 2018 at the Institute of Communication Sciences and Techniques (ISTC) in Abidjan. This Festival was initiated by Mr. Khalil HESNÉ, economic operator and organized by the Elites Channel Network of Côte d’Ivoire. Indeed, the objective of this festival was to make known to the young Ivorian generation the vision of Felix Houphouet-Boigny for his country.
The Team of Peace association organized the third edition of the inter-city basketball tournament called “Play For Peace” on August 18, 2018 at the Place Jean-Paul II in Yamoussoukro. This year’s theme was “Félix Houphouët-Boigny, this sporty man of peace” who is part of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Year celebrating the 25th anniversary of the death of the father of the Ivorian Nation and instituted by the foundation that bears his name.
On Saturday, August 11, 2018, the Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace (FHB Foundation) contributed effectively to the establishment of a reconciliation platform at Kaloufla in the Nionos canton, in the Marahoué region where conflicts between young people and the authorities are frequent.
The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation) organized a seminar for the members of the executive board of the Mister and Miss University Association Côte d’Ivoire (MMU-CI) on 9 and August 10, 2018 in Yamoussoukro. The theme of this seminar was “Student Engagement and Promoting the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence in Academia”. The MMU-CI is an international non-political, non-denominational non-profit association whose activities are directed towards students. Its purpose is the promotion of peace, non-violence and individual freedoms.
On August 7, 2018, Côte d’Ivoire celebrated the 58th anniversary of its independence. The city of Yamoussoukro has never remained on the sidelines of this solemn event which brought together this year the administrative authorities, the customary authorities, the religious leaders, the heads of services and the women and youth associations on Boulevard Mamie Adjoua.
The President of the Republic, HE Mr. Alassane OUATTARA and his counterpart of Burkina Faso, HE Mr. Roch Marc Christian KABORÉ, presided, on Friday, July 27, 2018, to the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research in Yamoussoukro, the work of the 7th Summit Conference of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso (TAC 7).
