The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation) organized a seminar for the members of the executive board of the Mister and Miss University Association Côte d’Ivoire (MMU-CI) on 9 and August 10, 2018 in Yamoussoukro. The theme of this seminar was “Student Engagement and Promoting the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence in Academia”. The MMU-CI is an international non-political, non-denominational non-profit association whose activities are directed towards students. Its purpose is the promotion of peace, non-violence and individual freedoms.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Diénéba DOUMBIA, Director of the Department of Peace Research at the FHB Foundation, said student participation in achieving peace is crucial because they are better able to find solutions. “Today more than yesterday, students must be able to work in certainty, complexity and innovation,” she added.
This activity consisted of workshops, film screenings and communications, the themes of which were:
- education in the values of the culture of peace,
- conflict prevention and management in academia,
- the student commitment and the perspective of action for the promotion of the culture of peace,
- and an example of commitment to promoting a culture of peace in academia.
