On August 7, 2018, Côte d’Ivoire celebrated the 58th anniversary of its independence. The city of Yamoussoukro has never remained on the sidelines of this solemn event which brought together this year the administrative authorities, the customary authorities, the religious leaders, the heads of services and the women and youth associations on Boulevard Mamie Adjoua.
The Prefect of Yamoussoukro, Mr. Brou KOUAMÉ, who presided over this commemoration, first reviewed detachments of the Defense and Security Forces present and then proceeded to salute the flag. On the occasion of his speech, he urged people in the political capital to be civic. He blasted the insalubrity that is growing and the anarchy that reigns in the city. “I would like to appeal to the sense of the republican duty of everyone and responsibility of all, to put an end to these mistakes,” he said. For him, Yamoussoukro is a city with inestimable assets. That is why he invited all the active forces to work, to the promotion of the essential values that build strong and solid societies.
After the Prefect’s speech, the traditional parade took place and saw the remarkable participation of the agents of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for the search for peace.
These festivities ended with a cocktail offered by Mr. Brou KOUAME at his residence.
