The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) organized, from 3 to 6 July 2017, its Regional Center for Education for a Culture of Peace (CRECP), based in Yamoussoukro (Republic of Côte d’Ivoire), a regional training workshop on the engagement of women leaders in the promotion of the culture of peace. This workshop was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research.
The workshop aimed to promote the participation of women in decision-making and the consolidation of the culture of peace and to support their role as mediators of dialogue and peace in Africa in the fields of education, Politics, economics, culture and dialogue among the followers of religions.
The workshop was attended by several women parliamentarians, university presidents, researchers, journalists, educators and heads of women’s associations and groups, as well as women working in the audiovisual and social networks coming from the following African states: Benin; Burkina Faso; Côte d’Ivoire ; Guinea Conakry ; Mali; Niger; Togo; Senegal and Gabon.
ISESCO will be represented at this workshop by Mrs Mariama Niang, Program Specialist in the Directorate of Human and Social Sciences.
