On August 25, 2017, the Director of the Peace Research Department of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation, Dr. Diénéba Doumbia, gave a lecture on the leaders of the Djimini-Djamala community and their allies on the sidelines of "The Day of Cultural Diversity and Culture of Peace in Yamoussoukro".
This conference, which focused on cultural diversity and the culture of peace, brought together about 60 participants from different communities living in Yamoussoukro and surrounding communities.
This meeting was organized by the Amicale of Djimini-Djamala in collaboration with the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research, under the high patronage of the Minister of Trade, Handicrafts and the Promotion of SMEs, M Souleymane Diarrassouba, represented by the Honorable Aboulaye Traoré. Its purpose was to promote cultural diversity, which is one of the values of the culture of peace. So it was an opportunity to show the contribution of joking alliances in the search for peace.
Dr. Doumbia, in his presentation, expressed his satisfaction to see the day dedicated to promoting cultural diversity. Indeed, at the moment of reconciliation, we can welcome this happy initiative that mobilized in an exceptional way communities of Yamoussoukro and particularly administrative and political authorities, traditional and religious leaders, and journalists attentive to the problematic of the culture of peace and of living together. They came from afar to participate in the celebration of this day of fraternity, social cohesion and the culture of peace. She also said that we need to preserve our cultural identity while engaging in positive interaction with other cultures. For her, cultural diversity can be a factor in bringing people closer together, understanding, peaceful coexistence and development.
The Day dedicated to cultural diversity and the culture of peace, ended with a dance festival where each community has demonstrated dance steps to express its cultural specificity while magnifying the understanding between peoples.
