200 Women Leaders of the Department of Gagnoa Trained in the Culture of Peace, Civism and Non-Violence

On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, 200 women leaders from the department of Gagnoa benefited from a training workshop on the culture of peace, civic-mindedness and non-violence during elections.

This training, provided by two experts from the Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation), aimed to build the capacity of leaders of women’s associations for the promotion of peace through the respect of civic values and non-violence.

Celebration of World Radio Day 2020: the Public Broadcast – 12 02 2020

As part of its outreach activities in the field, the West African Network to Fight against Clandestine Immigration (REALIC), in collaboration with the Organisation du Conseil des Jeunes de l’Entente (OCJE), the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation), organised the celebration of the 2020 edition of World Radio Day. This celebration took place on 12 and 13 February in Yamoussoukro, the political capital of Côte d’Ivoire. It focused on two themes, namely: “Youth and irregular migration in Côte d’Ivoire, the role of radio in the struggle” and “Youth and the promotion of the culture of peace during the electoral period”.

Theme: Contribution of youth to the Promotion of a Culture of Peace, Non-Violence and Prevention of Religious Extremism in Côte d'Ivoire

On November 28 and 29, 2019, a training workshop was held on the theme: "Youth contribution to the promotion of the culture of peace, non-violence and the prevention of religious extremism" organized by the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation) in cooperation with the Institut Afrique Monde (IAM).

This workshop brought together forty young leaders from seventeen faith-based organizations and associations and academics. Its objective was to equip participants with adequate tools for the promotion of peace and social cohesion in Côte d'Ivoire.

The workshop had the following objectives:

  • to pacify inter-religious relations in Côte d'Ivoire by cultivating non-violence, tolerance and acceptance of cultural diversity;
  • to prevent religious extremism in Côte d'Ivoire;
  • to get religious people involved in the consolidation of peace and social cohesion;
  • and to create the platform of religious leaders in Côte d'Ivoire.

Opening of the Exhibition organized by the Institute of African History, Art and Archaeology (IHAAA) in partnership with the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research on the theme: "The train from Abidjan to Ouagadougou 1898-1958", on November 25, 2019 in the Great Hall of the FHB Foundation in Yamoussoukro.

Exhibition curators: Evelyne Lodugnon Kalou and Mathias Savadogo.

On November 25, 2019, the opening of the photographic exhibition on the theme: "The train from Abidjan to Ouagadougou: 1898-1958" took place at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Research Foundation (FHB Foundation). This exhibition was organized by the association "Images et Mémoires" in partnership with the FHB Foundation, the History Department of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University and the Institute of African History, Art and Archaeology (IHAAA). It aimed at raising awareness of the active participation of Côte d'Ivoire in the implementation of the railway from 1898 to 1958. Photographs illustrating the vision of the railway, the engineering railway school, the earthworks, the completion and laying of the track marked this exhibition.

In his opening speech, the Secretary General of the FHB Foundation congratulated the two curators of the exhibition, namely Dr. Evelyne Lodugnon Kalou and Dr. Mathias Savadogo. He added that this exhibition was part of the noble mission of the institution he directs, namely to be a place of meetings and exchanges. For him, people need to know their history which is the memory of their identity. He concluded by affirming that the railway has been a factor in bringing together the peoples of Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire.

Dinner-Gala – Presentation of the FHB Research Award – Photos

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research organised on October 17 and 18, 2019 the Commemorative Days of the Birthday of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. These days ended in the evening of October 18, 2019 with a gala dinner at the FHB Foundation which was enhanced by the effective presence of the former First Lady Mrs Henriette Konan Bédié. During this dinner, the winners of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Research Award were honoured. It is about:

  • Dr. Charles Gadé Sylvain for doctoral theses
  • and Mr. Kassoum Zié Ouattara for the master's theses.

At the end of the days commemorating the birth of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the winners of the second edition of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Prize for Research were awarded on the evening of Friday, 18 October 2019, during a gala dinner hosted by the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation). This prize is awarded each year for the best research work relating to President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. This award ceremony was held with the effective presence of Mrs Henriette Konan Bédié, wife of the President of the PDCI-RDA and Senator Mrs Makani Diaby, 1st Vice-President of the Senate, who represented the President of the said institution.

Opening of the “Les Houphouët” Exhibition – Photos

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research organised on 17 and 18 October 2019 the Commemorative Days of the Birthday of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny On October 18, 2019, in the early evening in the main hall of the FHB Foundation, Professor Jean-Noël Loucou and other personalities attended the opening of the art exhibition featuring paintings on the work and life of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. This exhibition has been mounted by several Ivorian visual artists and is present until the end of the year.
