@Ajent It's interesting though, yes the playerbase skill level is higher in PS4 pool lobbies...but I've also lost a lot on Switch due to the performance (never ever get in a helicopter).
Don't play with gyro so I can't speak to that. Literally playing now and thought my new joycon got the drift. I play mostly on Switch with my lad and it’s a lot more chill.
Epic recently rolled out a new update for Fortnite and it's reportedly causing some serious problems for Nintendo Switch players who use gyro aiming assist. However, when I logged in after the recent update to 14.30 i immediately noticed that the Gyro-Aim wasn’t recognising smaller movements of the controller that it had no problem with in previous versions, resulting in the crosshair jumping across the screen and making it very difficult to aim at a specific target. “It also was kind of a skill set that a lot of the casual players and semi competitive players weren’t really that good at,” Hassan says. If we hear anything - we'll be sure to let you know. Since the Fortnite professional gaming scene is dominated by PC players with a few PlayStation 4 and Xbox One stars mixed in, the Nintendo Switch Fortnite community is often forgotten. While the Nintendo Switch scene may be the smallest of the Fortnite console gaming communities, there are still a large number of players on the Switch—with over 2 million Fortnite downloads as of 2018. Aim Assist On Screen Sight & Crosshair is Optimized to work with FPS and TPS PC games running in ‘Windowed’ mode. @invictus4000 I never played with gyro on Switch (outside of a couple matches) because I figured that someday I might graduate to a system or whatever that may not support it and didn't wanna rely on it, PLUS every cracked kid in the game told me not to use it, lol. The gyro problem is simply the icing on the proverbial cake of many problems of Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch. “Either controller is going to be too weak like it was a year ago without all the settings that they have now, and they weren’t even, you know, qualifying for the finals, or it’s going to be a situation like nowadays,” he says, referring to the fact that there wasn’t a single mouse and keyboard player in the solo FNCS qualifiers top 10. PC players already do it, so it isn't cheating. “And then a year later, we now have tournaments, like the weekly cash cups or the FNCS [Fortnite Champion Series] on NA East [North America East servers] where the lobbies now have more than half of the players on controller.” According to Hassan, on the NA East servers, the majority of the top 100 FNCS qualifiers were on controller — 55 to 44 or 45 on mouse and keyboard. If you can’t see your opponent, it’s easy to make mistakes. Your experience seems localised to you.
Zero quality control over there. Here, you can choose the ‘Aim Assist Strength’. Since version 14.30 dropped, gyro aim in the Switch iteration has apparently been stuttering and at times completely unresponsive. Fortnite’s ‘aim-assist’ mechanic has generated quite a bit of controversy in the past. That said, I didn't realize that many people used the gyro on Fortnite? In al those matches I never met another Switch player that used gyro (at least those who were talking with me).
“And unfortunately, the way this works usually is a lot of the people who defend controller or defend the current state of aim assist are on console,” Hassan says. This isn't a solo adventure game or something. “They used to constantly have to aim down sight, and then let go of the aim down sight [ADS] button, and then aim down sight again, and it would just constantly keep snapping onto the target,” says Hassan.
@Dang69 I quite frequently play squads with one of my friend on Xbox and other on PC (No fill, just the three of us) and we do manage to get a win every now and then and I haven't really struggeled in a team fights. Just copy Splatoon 2, the gold standard in Gyro aiming. I don't even see how motion controls could help at that close of range. “So it allows you to have better, more precise, minor movements, especially when you’re shooting long range. The trouble started last September, when Epic Games addressed competitive player complaints and began sunsetting what they called legacy aim assist in favor of a new system with linear and exponential modes.

As I mentioned in a previous post, a Faze clan member you know, the famous group that's pretty much better than all of us (including you) has said you cannot compete at 30fps. “Some of the top players, like Scope for example, used to be on console — you know, five, six months ago swapped to PC, started dominating on PC.”, It has also frustrated a lot of top players, like Tenney (who hates the state of aim assist), Josef “Liquid Stretch” Liepshutz (who placed third in the FNCS week 2 qualifiers), and even some longtime controller players like Co1azo. If I did it certainly wasnt bad enough for me to even remember tbh. In order to turn off your ‘aim assist’ setting, you need to first ensure that you have turned your ‘Use Advanced Options’ option on. Fortnite just nerfed aim assist with a controller on PC after weeks of player and pro complaints. At a certain point builds not being snappy means you'll get shot "thru" walls and stuff. The aim assist seems a lot more noticeable than it was in previous versions, and my stick aim is jumping around a little to lock onto moving targets. Gyro is a MUST for any shooter.
Regardless, in order to test their skill and see where they really stand, players can always switch their aim-assist setting off. From what I have gathered in my (very informal) testing, this issue seems to have coincided with what seems to be a tweak to the joystick aim assist in the most recent update.
