I was able to measure a flower bed border to prove to myself I wasn't exaggerating after I read online they only got up to 4'. I look when I go by this garden to make sure he slithers the other way as I pass.. but I am trying so hard to just let him be and help my garden with eating those snails and we get some big snails so I know that is why he choose my garden.. so hopefully ..he runs the other way and I will continue to just appreciate he is there without a heart attack..lol here in Canada (Nova Scotia) we get a lot of garter snakes, not so many grass snakes any more and then we get the ribbon snake and the redbelly and ringneck..
