A few months into 2017, I tried using it on my pedal board. Great for distorted, processed signals, and even nicer for clean jazzy applications. It's strange to me and made me wonder what could be causing the problem. A clever design it is, so simple and direct the interface can be effortlessly employed by a dyslexic playing slide guitar (that would me). Debugging a bricked Ditto X4. One, Two, Three strikes your out of the loop-er game. I tried the "firmware" update and that did not work. I am new to loopers but I will share everything I've noticed. Deal breaker for me & I'd imagine most people. Then one day I plugged it in and all the lights were orange. The boot loader (U-Boot) presumably boots a Linux kernel off the SD-card, which loads the pedal’s control software. After two months, occasionally it would freeze up and need to be unplugged. With a few minor exceptions, I absolutely love this thing and I am glad I upgraded. Everything you love about Sweetwater in the palm of your hand. Turns out they’re neither technical nor supportive. I usually have to ask for help, so far doing well by myself.....having a little trouble with some of the weird, odd Time signature, it will get better in time. I've used only the included power supply, have never taken them out of my studio, and have taken really good care of them. A bricked X4 and a small workshop full of electronic toys. Worked with Caleb on getting a demo model of this (he was a stellar rep). The best bass tones. I've owned 2 of these and both had the same problem. TC needs to do better and not sell products with defects, but in the end the pedal is working flawlessly and is a great looper. I stuck it at the very end of my pedal board after all of my overdrive and modulation effects pedals, and I'm very impressed so far. I really tried to like this looper for 16 months, but in the end swapped it out for an old BOSS RC-20xl looper. I use this pedal on basses. I sent it back because, for me, it brings little new to the party without the MIDI control. There was no manual supplied (nor has TC managed to get a manual up on the web page where they keep such things), so I had to be told by TC via Twitter that it wasn't gonna work without a stronger power supply. No added junk to complicate the situation. yes this almost the same review as my review of the Ditto looper, but the Ditto Looper is 4 times as powerful and 4 times as much fun. As stated in other comments this is 2 loopers in one.
Great for solo or group performances. This pedal did not work when it arrived. 115200 8N1. The ditto looper is about as close to perfect as you can get in a simple, no nonsense pedal. When I received it I spent time figuring it out right away. With a few minor exceptions, I absolutely love this thing and I am glad I upgraded. After a few months of minimal use they glitched out and quit. It will keep looping including the silence and you can fill it in obviously.

As this is not a mod pedal, which might have a ton of FX buried deep inside (as with many of the TonePrint-enabled devices), the inability to engage in such brain surgery is also understandable. If I could at least get TC Electronic to actually reply to my service request I will consider modifying this review, but for now I'm frustrating with both the product and the company.

I haven't had the x4 very long, but since it's so new and there aren't many reviews yet, I thought it might be beneficial to share my observations: 2 sync'ed loops +midi sync opens up a ton of potential. This model is a piece of crap. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. I’m just an annoyed customer with a bricked Ditto X4 and some technical know-how. This is speculation at present. The original promise was that it could do all sorts of stuff via MIDI but they later dialed back the claims. DIYSo here we are. The ISP header is exposed but unpopulated. It worked alright for a bit. The second thing is also a power-user thing and of little concern to the majority of users – something that has TC's TonePrint users spoiled rotten – the ability to get into the guts and tweak the daylights out of everything. the software/firmware is buggy, and/or the hardware is problematic... i don't know which it is, but the end result is, a device that you cannot depend on the be reliable and predictable boot up after boot up.
